The
most familiar ancient things for Chinese people who live in Thailand
are " shrines". However the evident of Chinese shrine between Sukkhothai
and Ayutthaya Age cannot be found. Until in Rattanagosin Age Chinese
culture had combined with others culture but still no evident to
proof the built of shrine. So the story of Chinese shrine has first
recorded in his majesty King Rama 5.
The
largest of Chinese shrine found at "Leang-nei-yee Temple" Chinese
beliefs very similar to others nation on spirit and God as they
have different level and it can be classified into 4 levels:
"Ju-leoa" is inhabited of lower level of
God which referring to spirit of ancient. The characteristic of
this shrine is built on the ground.
"Tee-te" is inhabited of spirit that roaming in the human world
it can be compare as Thai guardian spirit. The shrine usually built
in square pattern with lamp as the symbol of worship. The offering
usually is vegetarian. "Toua or Pung-toa-kong-ma" is inhabited of
pure human spirit.
"Posian" is inhabited of bodhisattva usually for temple building
"Nga-sain King" is one of the God that play an important role in
Chinese lifestyle, more than half of the shrine in Chinese is this
type.
One of the older Toa shrine located in behind
Bangkoknoi station in Bangkok is called "Shrine of Je-nun-meaw"
However the respective of individual God is in a small
group career and language such as Taechews people respect spirit
gradient name "Savient-tient-song-tee or Sheo-jeen", Hainaness respect
Jun-bow-neiw also Koen-Au. However some evident shown that Chinese
people do not respected to one spirit all the time.
If any spirit that have many people respect that spirit will
be inhabit in shrine such as old shrine in Shong-wad road had change
from Pon-toa-kong to tiger god or shrine at Sean-sian change from
Keon-im to Hong-jeia.
